RoseCity Quilter Treks in Iceland – Day Three July 27/15

Today was the long day. We were up at 5:30, packed up our stuff and our tents, had breakfast and were on our way by 8:00! Rain for later in the afternoon was the incentive for the early rise!

We impressed Gulli (our guide) with our efficiency at taking down our camp! Team work!

We walked through lava fields..

And by Gysers….

And a lot of snow that had not yet melied. It was kind walking through sand…

Lunch was at a campground that could not yet open due to all the snow….

Some amazing sights after lunch….

The last 40 minutes of the trip were made in light rain! We all took it as part of the “adventure”, and we were disappointed in our “rain resistant” gear, we were pretty wet.

When we arrived at the campground, 8 hours after leaving in the morning, a near record! Our food tent was up and the driver and hot water and coffee ready for us! We were so happy to find that.

We started checking our Fitbits, and we had walked over 44000 steps, with over 250 flights of stairs. It was a fabulous day!
